OMG, Quincy Won't Shut Up About Water Bottles. Here are 10 More Tips.
I go to Disney World almost every day for work, and I don’t know if you know this…but it gets HOT in Florida. I have become incredibly dependent on carrying a water bottle when I’m in Disney parks to combat the heat. I just don’t know who I am without one!
I really can’t stop talking about water bottles and it must be getting on my team’s nerves because they assigned me, “OMG, Quincy Won’t Shut Up About Water Bottles. Here are 10 More Tips.” But, I’m going to ignore the first part and focus on the second part because if someone wants me to talk about water bottles, by golly, I will!
Listen, staying hydrated is important (especially in 100 degree heat) so we’ve compiled a lot of tips to stay ‘drated. You can see some of them in our video right here!
But let’s talk water bottles — because trust me, there’s a lot to know about picking the RIGHT water bottle to bring to Disney World.
I have used a number of water bottles in Disney World while I look for the right one. It’s mostly because I am a chronic loser (as in I lose all of my things all the time) and have lost two favorites of mine.
One thing that I’ve changed every time I buy a new water bottle is I’ve gotten bigger ones. The bigger the water bottle, the more I drink, and the better I feel.I’m currently using a 42 oz water bottle. But, there’s a caveat to this…
You’ll want to be careful or at least aware of how much your water bottle weighs! Whether you’re headed to Disney World or just around your hometown, you might be carrying this thing around with you for hours.
I’m using a large, metal water bottle which has its pros but boy, is it heavy! It definitely can make my bag dig into my shoulders and its a touch hard to carry around with just a finger or two. Make sure you’re comfortable with how heavy it is! If you’d rather refill more often to have a lighter water bottle, then swing for smaller!
I think the key to staying hydrated is feeling attached to your water bottle. Ok, maybe not really, but it certainly helps me! I’m carrying water bottles around all day so they’re basically accessories at this point.
So, I got one with some of my favorite colors and I love having it around! You also might want a water bottle with hydration goals. I used one of those for a while and it helps to know when you’re behind or ahead on how much water you should be drinking.
I cannot stress enough that a straw was a life-changing thing for me. I know that sounds kind of silly but I never drank enough water about a year ago and would often get sick because of it.
Then I got a water bottle with a straw as a present and started drinking so much more than when I had to tip the bottle up. Now, a straw is a must for me to buy a water bottle. My current bottle, an Owala, even has a special spout that acts as both a straw and a regular opening so you can sip or chug.
Once you’ve got a weight you’re comfortable with, you want to have a plan to carry it. There is nothing worse than a water bottle that won’t fit in your bag (or your car cupholder for that matter).
I specifically carry a bigger bag than I need to so I can toss my water bottle in there if need be. That said, just carrying my bottle in my hands also helps me to drink more…but it’s also the reason I keep losing them.
This one is a really big one for me. One of my water bottles was practically perfect except for the fact that the straw you drink out of was directly on top of the bottle with nothing covering it.
Disney World is a theme park and theme parks are gross. If my water bottle touched something strange, the straw was exposed and I would have to wash it before I could put my mouth on it again. Beyond that, sometimes you have to carry all of your stuff into the bathroom. ‘Nuff said.
Orlando is hot, hot, hot, and cold water can be a lifesaver mid day. Usually, I don’t think ice is a must but when I’m out in the theme park it can really help to cool me down.
I like to load my water bottle up with ice in the morning so that it can melt throughout the day and keep my water cool!
There have been too many times that my water bottle has been empty when I’m halway through an hour long line.
Remember to fill up when you’re around a good place to do so. That way, you’re not stuck without water when you really need it later!
Definitely make sure you’re drinking even more water than you usually do in Disney World. You’ll sweat and you’ll be exerting a lot of energy.
Hydration is the key to staying energized and healthy during these hot and exhausting days.
Obviously water fountains can be helpful, but I prefer to refill my water bottle at water bottle refill stations or with cups of water. That way it’s cooler and a little easier to do!
You can find water bottle refill stations in newer areas of the theme parks and quick-service spots offer cups of ice water if you request. Just don’t refill from an ice water dispenser as those are typically meant for single cup servings.
Basically, if you have any water bottle questions — you just let me know. Keep an eye on AllEars.Net!
